Picture of Buy/Sell
On this page, you are able to buy and sell your cryptocurrency. Here (link), we explained how you can buy your cryptocurrency from fiat. If you would like to set up a routine purchase to average out your purchases, you can select the “Repeat this Buy” function. This function lets you load your account with fiat or one of the three cryptocurrencies daily, weekly, every two weeks or monthly. To do so, you would follow the same steps as buying(link) but select Repeat this buy(photo).
To convert your Bitcoin, Litecoin and/or Etherium to fiat, follow these easy steps. We will use Litecoin in this example.
To sell one of the three above mentioned cryptocurrencies to fiat start at your Dashboard. Click Buy/Sell, select the Sell tab, select from one of the three cryptocurrencies (Litecoin), select Deposit method (bank account, credit card or US Wallet), enter the dollar amount you would like to purchase, and click Sell Litecoin.
You will then receive a prompt to confirm your transaction. Verify that your deposit location, the cryptocurrency you are selling and select “Confirm Sell”. You will now have either money in your US Wallet or have initiated a transfer to your bank.
The Accounts page will show you your three hot wallets and any vault (cold)wallets. For information about vault wallets, click here.
If you click on any of the wallets, it will show all history regarding purchases, sales and or sent/received transactions. It will provide you with the date, type and dollar amount of the transaction.
The vault function is unique to coinbase which will require any withdrawals of cryptocurrency to require a two e-mail verification and a 48 hour hold before the funds are released. This is to help provide additional security to the user as these funds are held by coinbase in cold storage and provides a delayed release in case someone does hack into your account. This is recommended if you plan on holding large amounts of cryptocurrency on coinbase instead of a wallet.
To create a Vault, select Vault, resign in (required to verify), enter your 2FA information, select which cryptocurrency you wish to vault, provide a name of the vault, select Individual if this is your sole account or Group if this is a shared account. For this set-up guide, we will proceed as an individual.
Next step is to enter a secondary e-mail address to require a secondary approval for the funds to be withdrawn. If this is another personal e-mail address, make sure that it does not have the same password as your primary e-mail.
Now, log on to your other email address and verify “Use this e-mail to approve withdrawals”.
Congratulations, you have now set up your Litecoin Vault!
Sending cryptocurrency to your Vault
Now that the vault is set up, let’s send your cryptocurrency to your vault. For this example, we will continue to use Litecoin. **Reminder** It will take 48 hours for cryptocurrency to be removed from the vault once it is stored there for security purposes.
Starting from the Dashboard, select Accounts. At your LTC Wallet Icon, select …, select Transfer.
The Transfer Bitcoin icon will pop up. Under Transfer to, select your LTC Vault. Under Amount, enter the amount of LTC you wish to deposit into the Vault. If you want to deposit all of your funds into the vault, select Transfer All. Select Continue.
Congratulations! You have just moved your cryptocurrency to the Vault.
How to remove your cryptocurrency from the Vault
If it is time to move your funds to an exchange, wallet or wishing to convert it to fiat, you will need to remove the cryptocurrency from your Vault. Starting from the Dashboard, select Accounts. At your LTC Vault, select Withdraw. You will be prompted to enter the amount you wish to withdraw and enter your 2-step verification code.
Once entered, you will sent to the pending approval page. Here you will need to select approve, which is one of two steps to withdraw your funds. The second step will be to approve the withdrawal on your secondary email address. Once logged in to your e-mail, find the e-mail from coinbase and click “Approve withdrawal”. Once selected, it will take you back to the pending approval page which will show the amount of time funds are released. Once time expires, they will show up in your LTC Wallet.
The tools section has four sub-sections which each provide a different function.
Coinbase will create a new address for each payment on Coinbase which stays with your account forever. This tab will show you a list of all addresses used for your account. While these addresses are dedicated to your account, it is not recommended to reuse them.
This tab shows any recurring transactions on your account and allows you to modify, remove or create new recurring transactions.
This tab allows you to generate custom reports for your account for each individual cryptocurrency over various time ranges.
This tab allows you to review and download any history regarding your account in one list.
The settings tab has five sub-sections which provide different functions.
The My Profile section is used to set up your personal profile for coinbase. For information on how to set it up, click here.
The preferences section is used to set your local currency, time zone and any e-mail notification you wish to receive.
The security section is one of the most important sections of Coinbase as it is used for:
- Cell Phone Verification
- Two-Factor Authentication (link)
- Third Party Applications
- Active Sessions
- Permanently Close Account
This will show you the bank account and credit/debit cards linked to your coinbase account. You are able to add (link) accounts to this page.
This section allows users to add widgets, API keys, and other applications that most individual users do not use or need.
This section shows you your weekly buy and sell limits. For your buy limits, you are only allowed to buy so much with you US wallet, upload funds to coinbase via your bank account and your Credit/Debit Card.
Same limits apply to your sell limits.
If you would like to apply for higher limits, click here (link to increasing limits).
